The Delhi High Court Justice Navin Chawla asked the AAP government that why spas were not being allowed to open even after other public places like gyms, markets, restaurants etc. are operating in the city. After the central government allowed reopening of spas, Delhi government said it cannot allow it to open keeping in mind the third wave of COVID-19 infections in the city.
Court asked the government that- “Why? Why only spas? What is so special about spas? You have opened everything else. Look at markets, restaurants, metros, buses, all are open and running full time.” The counsel for Delhi government said that it would not be opened keeping in mind the conditions of city and asked for time to file affidavit for the same with reasons.

The plea was filed by various spa owners which has been shut since the first phase of lockdown. The petitioners through their advocates Rajeshwar Dagar and Himanshu Dagar, the spa owners have contended that they have been trained as professional therapists under the National Skills Development Mission launched by Prime
The court has listed the matter to be heard on December 4th.
