The Mumbai Police told the Bombay High Court on Thursday that Rashmi Shukla, Indian Police Service (IPS) Officer won’t be arrested for the time being if she coordinate with the police and the interrogation. The statement was made in a proceeding before the High Court on an appeal by Rashmi Shukla asking for quashing of the FIR registered by Mumbai Police against unspecified persons for disclosing information referring to police postings in the state of Mumbai.
The States also said that no arrest will be made until the next date of hearing of the case provided she collaborates with the police while investigating. Rashmi Shukla is presently posted at Hyderabad as the Additional Director General of South Zone, Central Reserve Police Force. For the time being, Additional Solicitor General Anil Singh appearing for CBI submitted that the documents concerning corruption were being investigated by CBI as a part of the wide inspection being administered in the FIR registered against former Home Minister Anil Deshmukh on corruption charges.
A bench of Justices SS Shinde and Manish Pitale marked on Thursday that for the ongoing pandemic along with the fact that Rashmi Shukla was officially posted in Hyderabad, there may arise difficulty for her to appear in person before the Mumbai Police, to which Darius Khambata, Senior Advocate appearing for the state suggested that if Shukla cannot travel to Mumbai, a police officers team from Mumbai could travel to Hyderabad, her work location and record her statement.
