The Hon’ble Madhya Pradesh High Court has directed the District and State Legal Authorities to ensure strict implementation of poverty alleviation schemes incorporated under the provisions of Legal Services Authority Act, 1987 and NALSA scheme, 2015.
The Hon’ble Division Bench constituted by Hon’ble Justices Sheel Nagu and Anand Pathak was dealing with a petition alleging corruption and illegality against State Authorities in the construction of toilets under Swachh Bharat Mission in Bhind District.
The Hon’ble Court has observed that the NALSA scheme, 2015 is meant to address poverty in a multidimensional way, which includes health, access to water, education, subsidies, sanitation, etc., and the Legal Services Authority is duty-bound to act upon any complaint received by the beneficiaries under the clause (9),(10) and (11) of the NALSA, 2015 scheme.
The Hon’ble Court further directed the District Collector and CEO, Bhind District Panchayat to probe into the matter and the alleged roles of persons involved in the implementation of the Scheme under the Swachh Bharat Mission.
The Hon’ble Court further directed that an inquiry be made into the allegations within two months and that persons proved guilty of the corruption charges be dealt with in accordance with the law.
