Sameer Wankhede’s father files defamation suit of 1.25 crore against Nawab Malik

The father of the Zonal Director of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Sameer Wankhede, filed a defamation lawsuit against Maharashtra Cabinet Minister Nawab Malik. Mr Dhyandev Kachruji Wankhede father of Sameer Wankhede moved to court claiming that the latest claims by the minister have certainly defamed the family. Wankhede’s father has demanded compensation of 1.25 million rupees in this case. The lawsuit will be heard on Monday.

The NCB arrested Aryan Khan and at least 19 other people on the night of 2-3 October. Ever since Wankhede has been facing an investigation by the department after an independent witness, in this case, claimed that an offer of extortion was alleged by those involved in the investigation.

Wankhede had denied any wrongdoing. Meanwhile, the NCB announced on Friday that a total of six cases, including the drug case on cruise ships operated by the NCB’s Mumbai Zonal Unit, have now been handed to Special Investigation Team (SIT) made up of officials from the Operations Division at NCB’s New Delhi headquarters.

Wankhede denied being “withdrawn” from the Aryan Khan investigation, saying the agency’s move had to do with coordination between the Mumbai and Delhi NCB teams.

Malik, however, said the NCB’s officers closing of the case was “just the beginning”.

Sameer Wankhede has been removed from 5 cases, including the Aryan Khan case. A total of 26 cases have to be investigated.
