The Union Law and Justice Minister Kiren Rijiju, has asked the judges to conduct on-site visits in order to achieve the goal of effective justice for the people. Rijiju said at the launch of Citizen’s TeleLaw mobile app on Saturday, “Some people think that justice can only be given in courts, but it is not necessarily the case. It can be delivered by the court in the midst of people at their doorstep. A judge should conduct field visits so that the goal of achieving justice can be achieved more effectively. ”
The Union Law Justice Minister together with the Minister of State (MoS) for Law and Justice SP Baghel, also congratulated the TeleLaw frontline officers organized by the Department of Justice. On that occasion, Rijiju announced the expansion of TeleLaw to include 75,000-gram panchayats covering all states/UT to ensure legal advice and counselling as basic steps for legal aid services, as a part of India’s 75th Independence celebrations. He thanked the team and all frontline officials who made it possible for “Sabka Prayas, Sabko Nyaya” to bring justice to the last minute.
According to the Department of Justice, by expanding its reach and scope of Citizens’ TeleLaw mobile app intends to expand access to more legal information and empower the masses to identify their issue and choose the appropriate dispute redressal forum for claiming their rights and entitlement by connecting beneficiary directly with the Paralegal Volunteers or with the help of volunteers for law, village level entrepreneurs if a beneficiary cannot read or write. The counselling is free to those eligible for free legal aid under Section 12 of the Legal Services Authority, while an additional person could benefit from Rs 30 per counselling, the Department of Justice said.
