Narada Case: Calcutta HC Allows Applications Filed By WB Govt, CM Mamata Banerjee For Accepting Their Affidavits

The Hon’ble Calcutta High Court has allowed the application that was filed by the Hon’ble chief minister Mamta Banerjee, State of West Bengal, and the state law minister Moloy Ghatak seeking acceptance of their affidavits in the Narada Scam Case.

The affidavits purportedly detail the law and order situation in the state on May 17, 2021, which is the date when the four accused TMC leaders were arrested.

The Hon’ble 5-judge bench comprising of Hon’ble Chief Justice Rajesh Bindal, and Hon’ble Justices IP Mukherjee, Harish Tandon, Soumen Sen, and Arijit Banerjee has in a way allowed the applications subject to payment of Rs. 5,000 by each of the applicants. Along with that CBI has been granted 10 days to file its reply in opposition.

The development comes after the Hon’ble Supreme court set aside the order dated June 9, 2021, of Hon’ble Calcutta High Court where the Hon’ble bench had refused to take on record the affidavits stating that they waited for the arguments in the case to be substantially completed before seeking to place on record their pleadings in response.
