The Hon’ble Andhra Pradesh High Court took serious note of the delay in issuing the certified copies of the orders at the time of granting bail to an accused in the matter related and falling under The Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.
The court here observed that despite the conscious recognition of many pending cases, it is very difficult to issue the order copies within a short period due to staff shortage.
Justice Lalita Kanneganti focusing on the decision of the Supreme Court where it had taken cognizance, suggested evolving an alternative mechanism in order to address the plight of all the under-trial prisoners/accused.
Last week, the Chief Justice of India N.V. Ramana explained the court’s willingness to evolve a system in order to electronically transmit the bail orders directly to prisons.
After this, a scheme called FASTER-Fast and the secure transmission of electronic records are now being considered, which will basically communicate all the orders to the appropriate jail authorities without any delay.
