A petition has been filed before the Hon’ble Apex Court urging to make effective rules, measures, and guidelines to address the menace of population explosion, saying that it is the main reason for more than half of the Country’s problems.
Firoz Bakht Ahmed, who is a descendant of India’s first Educational Minister Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, has filed the instant PIL petition in light of the 24th Recommendation of the National Commission, (Hon’ble Justice Venkatchaliah Commission) to review the working of the Constitution.
In the plea, it was sought to make two-child law as a criterion for Government jobs, subsidies, schemes, right to contest in elections, right to property, etc.
Further, the plea contended to bring awareness about population explosion by recognizing the first Sunday of every month as ‘Health Day’ and to provide necessary contraceptive measures to EWS and BPL families.
The Petitioner has also sought directions from the Law Commission of India to make a detailed report on population explosion and suggest necessary measures to address the problem.
