Ease from Calcutta High Court for Durga Puja Pandals

Calcutta High Court partially relaxed its order in regard to the Durga Puja Pandals. It has allowed certain number of people to be present inside pandals.

  • Around 15 people allowed at small pandals
  • Around 60 persons allowed at larger pandals but only 45 at a time.

The court also allowed the “dhakis” (drum players) to be present outside the no-entry zone of each pandal maintaining social distancing protocols. Court added that the pandal area will be treated as containment zones and no-entry zones will be declared upto certain distance of pandal.

On the other hand, the court refused to pass any order to allow two important rituals i.e. anjali and sindoor khela. Court further stated that only the organizers can enter pandals, while the name of those allowed to enter pandals should be displayed outside pandals every day at 8 am and it will be fixed.
