The Hon’ble Allahabad High court while dealing with the petition of an inter-religious couple who alleged that private respondent had interfered in their marital life and liberty has clearly stated that the fact that the petitioner that is the woman had converted to Islam would not be considered to be a relevant factor to ensure that there is no interference in the liberty.
Hon’ble Justice Salil Kumar Rai was hearing the plea and both the petitioners that are man and woman sought the direction against the respondent for not interfering in their marital life. The claim made by them was that they are major and they had solemnized marriage at their own will.
The Hon’ble Court, in this case, had stated that it is well-settled law that it is the right of the couple to live peacefully without any interference in their married life.
The Hon’ble court further stated that if the petitioners any time feels that they have a threat to life then they can move to the superintendent of police who shall further take all the steps as required under the law.
The Hon’ble court further cleared that even if the two persons are not married and they wish to live together and they have attained majority then they can live together without any interference by others.
