Aryan Khan released on bail

The Bombay High Court in the Mumbai cruise drug case has granted bail to Aryan Khan, son of superstar Shah Rukh Khan with two other accused: Arbaaz Merchant, Munmun Dhamecha and issued a detailed bail order in the case. 

The Bombay HC said that Aryan Khan will be released on personal bail of ₹ 1lakh with one or two guarantees of the same amount. A copy of the five-page operational order was signed today by Judge NW Sambre.  

Aryan Khan advocates have to take the certified copy of the HC ruling, along with the required documents and surety, to the Special Court hearing cases related to the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Act (NDPS). The court will then issue release papers that will be handed over to Arthur Road Prison to secure Aryan Khan’s release.   

In its decision, the High Court placed 14 conditions on Aryan Khan and charged Arbaaz Merchant and Munmun Dhamecha, who was also released on bail.   

Here are some conditions placed on Aryan, another defendant:

  1. The applicant will not indulge in a similar offense The applicant will not attempt to communicate with the co-defendant,
  2. The applicant will not leave the country without prior approval from the NDPS court,
  3. Applicant not allowed to provide explanations of proceedings on social media or media,
  4. The applicant cannot leave Mumbai without informing the investigating officer,
  5. The applicant must be in the NCB’s office between 11 p.m. and 2 p.m. every Friday, and has to attend court on all hearings unless prevented by appropriate cause,
  6. The applicant must appear in court at all appointments unless there is a valid reason to prevent this,
  7. The applicant must go to the NCB office after the start of the proceedings, cannot delay the proceedings,
  8. If these provisions are violated, the NCB may immediately Apply for bail waiver in court of NDPS,
  9. Applicant must handover his passport to the Special Court of NDPS

Judge NW Sambre granted bail to Aryan Khan on Thursday, 25 days after his arrest during a drug raid on a cruise off the coast of Mumbai. The high court had announced that it would submit a copy of its ruling on Friday.
