After the Supreme Court objected, the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIC) removed the government banner with PM Modi’s image from official court correspondence.
The same was done after the Supreme Court wrote to the NIC requesting that the image be removed because it had no link to the judiciary.
The National Informatics Centre (NIC) has removed the Central government’s advertisement banner featuring Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s image from the bottom of official emails received from the Supreme Court’s official email address. The same was done after the Supreme Court wrote to the NIC requesting that the image be removed because it had no link to the judiciary.
The Supreme Court issued an official notice in this regard, however it does not specify the nature of the image that was being attached to its emails.
It was brought to the attention of the Supreme Court of India’s Registry late last evening that the official emails of the Supreme Court of India had an image as a footer that had nothing to do with the functioning of the judiciary. According to a clarification note from the Supreme Court, the National Informatics Centre, which provides email services to the apex Court, has been asked to remove that image from the footer of emails originating from the apex Court.
The Supreme Court also ordered the NIC to use the Supreme Court of India’s picture, which has now been done.
