SC Notice on NEET PG Exam Pattern Change

SC Notice on NEET PG Exam Pattern Change

On Monday, the Supreme Court issued a notice in a writ petition which challenged the very sudden and last-minute changes that were made by the National Board of Examinations with regards to the exam pattern of the scheduled National Eligibility cum Entrance Test-Super Specialty (NEET-SS) 2021.

41 Qualified post-graduate doctors from all over the country filed this petition, who were aiming to become super-specialists by means of cracking NEET-SS 2021. As per the existing pattern which has been in place from 2018 to 2020, Sixty per cent of the marks were allotted from questions in the super speciality section while the remaining forty per cent were distributed for questions from the feeder courses. However, as per the newly proposed pattern, the whole of the questions for critical care super-speciality will be drawn from general medicines.

Some argued that this leaves students who are from other disciplines at a great disadvantage. They also said that the authorities should not have been allowed to bring these changes after the exam notification was issued, as most students had already begun their preparations.

They had also stated that though the dates of NEET SS 2021 were officially published on 23rd July 2021 the changed pattern was made public a little more than a month after on 31st August 2021 when there were only two months left before the NEET SS 2021 examination which are scheduled to be held on 13th  and 14th November.
