SCBA Writes To CJI To Increase The Number Of Vacation Benches

Advocate Vikas Singh, the president of the Supreme Court Bar Association writes to the Hon’ble Chief Justice of India requesting him to expand the number of vacation Benches, to restore the system of oral and listed mentioning, and to relax the category of issues that may come to the Hon’ble benches during vacations.

In his letter Adv. Vikas also requested to the Hon’ble Chief Justice of India to restore the position of a Vacation Bench to be headed by the vacation judge as per the convention. He further explained the convention to which he is requesting to adhere.

As per the convention, a vacation bench is to be headed by the vacation judge who will exercise the power that is inherently given to the Hon’ble Chief Justice of India concerning the listing of matters. Additionally, he also explained that according to the convention, vacation benches only took up the urgent issue.

The advocate letter was the reactionary action of the denial of the permission to oral mentioning.
