A Delhi court yesterday expressed its unhappiness with a police officer for summoning a man to the police station without having filed a formal complaint against him, claiming that the official had deceived the Court by providing false information.
“I don’t understand how the police station was converted into a public call booth and the duty officer stationed there operated at the desire of the complainant to call any person without having any complaint against that person,” stated Atul Kumar Garg, Additional District and Sessions Judge.
The SHO of the police station, as well as the Head Constable and Sub Inspector, were ordered to appear before the court tomorrow, along with the complaint.” Until then, the police are prohibited from acting on the complainant’s complaint,” the court stated.
The Court was hearing an application from a man who claimed that his ex-girlfriend had subjected him to constant, threatening, mental harassment, tormenting, and blackmail.
According to him, the woman wrote a suicide note and sent it to him via WhatsApp, accusing him of making false accusations.
In light of this, the applicant said that he had gotten a call from the Mehrauli Police Station regarding a complaint lodged by the woman, which he claimed was fraudulent.
The investigating officer had earlier responded to the Court, indicating that no such complaint or FIR had been filed with the police station.
