Vikas Dubey encounter case- SC panel gives clean chit to UP Police

A three-member inquiry commission headed by former Supreme Court judge Justice (retd) BS Chauhan has found no evidence of wrongdoing on behalf of the Uttar Pradesh Police in the encounter of infamous gangster Vikas Dubey and five of his associates in July last year. 

The other two members of the commission of inquiry were former High Court judge Justice (retd) Shashikant Aggarwal and retired Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police KL Gupta and the panel was to submit its report within two months.

One of the informed sources told PTI that “no evidence has been found or brought before the Commission for involvement in wrongdoings by Uttar Pradesh police officers”.

No media personnel, especially electronic media journalists, appeared before the Commission on the day of the encounter, assisting the panel on behalf of the state, chasing a police van carrying Dubey from Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh to Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, Advocate Pranshu Agarwal appeared assisting the panel on behalf of State government said.
