Delhi HC: Priya Ramani stands by her statement, No settlement in MJ Akbar defamation case

Ex-Union Minister MJ Akbar had submitted before a Court in Delhi that the statements made by journalist Priya Ramani against him were all defamatory which were publish has lowered his reputation. He has filed a Defamation case against Priya Ramani for false accusations of sexual assault.

Senior Lawyer Geeta Luthra who is appearing for Akbar, told the Court that MJ Akbar become the editor in a very short period of time all by his hard work & no one has ever made any allegations or said anything about his character.

His counsel also cited various testimonials of witnesses to prove that he had a very good reputation & said that the statements made by Ramani were all defamatory and it has lowered the reputation of petitioner.

Counsel said to court that the reputation of petitioner which he made in all these years can’s be hampered like nothing. She added that the respondents have nothing on record not even on CCTV or telephone details or parking receipts to justify the allegation made.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Vishal Pahuja, who was hearing the final arguments in the defamation case, listed the matter for arguments to be ontinued on Wednesday and the hearing remained not concluded.

Akbar “Ex- minister” resigned on Oct 17, 2018, as the Union Minister after his name cropped up on social media as the ‘#MeToo’ campaign poped in country, where Ramani accused Akbar of sexual misconduct which was denied by him.
