Trump India Visit: Highlights

The President of the United States of America, Donald Trump along with First Lady Melania Trump, Daughter Ivanka Trump and son-in-law Jared Kushner, arrived at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad, on Monday Morning. The US First Couple was greeted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the airport. President Trump along with PM Modi walked along with the airport amidst music and dance performances organized for their welcome.

Visit to Sabarmati Ashram

Upon leaving Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, the First Couple headed straight towards Mahatma Gandhi’s Sabarmati Ashram. The First Couple was seen wearing a traditional Indian scarf and was also seen posing with the iconic “Charkha”. The visitor’s book at the Sabarmati Ashram was also signed by the US President, which said, “To my great friend Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Thank You For This Wonderful Visit”.

The “Namaste Trump” event at Motera Stadium

The Event began with PM Modi addressing the crowd of over 1 lakh people. The address started with “Bharat Mata ki Jai” chants, followed by cheers for Indo-US relations. In his address, PM Modi welcomed President Trump and First Lady Melania to the “Largest Democracy in the World”. The Prime Minister applauded the fine work done by the President and his family for the growth and development of America.

After PM Modi, President Trump took the stage and addressed the whole crowed by greeting them “Namaste”. President Trump thanked PM Modi for the warm welcome given to him and his family in India; he said that they’ll always remember this remarkable hospitality by the people of India. President Trump said, “America Loves India, America Respects India and American people will always be a faithful and loyal friend to the Indian people”.

President Trump during his speech also said that there will be a trade deal signed between India and the United States of America of around US$ 3 billion. President Trump also added that America is looking forward to providing India with some of the best and most feared lethal military weapons and equipment around the world. If these are finalized during this two-day visit of President Trump in India, it’ll be very beneficial for India, both economically and defense wise.

Visit to the Taj Mahal

On his arrival at the Kheria airbase, over 250 artists from all around Uttar Pradesh performed “Mayur Dance”, “Rai Folk Dance”, “Dhobia Folk Dance”, while the sound of Dholak, Nagada, Mridang surrounded to add to the festive ambiance. President Trump and his family were greeted by UP Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath at the airbase. Trump came to Agra to visit the iconic Taj Mahal. There were gigantic billboards all around the city, featuring President Trump and PM Modi, greeting the First Couple with a message “Grand Welcome of India’s Best Friend to the City of Love- Agra”.

Arrival at the National Capital

After his visit to the iconic Taj Mahal, President Trump arrived at Delhi on Monday evening. The visit to Delhi is where his main leg of his maiden visit to India begins. President Trump will be having extensive talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, about various trade deals and military deals that are likely to be signed between the two Nations. Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri along with many other senior officials was present at the Delhi Airport to receive President Trump and his family. The ITC Maurya, the hotel at Delhi will be hosting the President during his two-day visit to India. Trump will be accorded with a ceremonial welcome at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Tuesday morning, after that he’ll visit Rajghat to pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi. Later on, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Donald Trump will hold restricted and delegation-level talks at the Hyderabad House.
