The Hon’ble Supreme Court on Thursday inquired about what measures are being taken up by the Government of Andhra Pradesh for its decision to conduct physical examinations for students amidst the raging Covid-19 pandemic.
The Hon’ble Division Bench constituted by Hon’ble Justice A. M Khanwilkar and Justice Dinesh Maheshwari asked the government to provide information on infrastructural, logistical, and other necessary arrangements to hold examinations.
The Hon’ble Court warned the Government of A.P that it would not agree with its decision if the measures taken by the government does not satisfy the court in ensuring health and safety to all.
The Hon’ble Court holding the State responsible for its decision stated that it shall invoke the frontline worker’s scheme for compensation if any fatalities occur on account of examinations.
Expressing concern over the State’s uncertainty regarding the examination schedule, the Hon’ble Court warned that their students may be left out while students of CBSE and ICSE will get academic seats in various institutions.
Refusing to adjourn the matter for Monday as requested by the Government, the Hon’ble Court listed the matter for tomorrow at 02:00 PM.
