NIA court rejects bail to Stan Swami in Bhima Koregaon case

The catholic priest  was arrested and charged under several sections of the Indian Penal Code. The advocate Sharif Sheikh, on behalf of Swami filed for bail arguing that his client is being framed in the case by the NIA due to the nature of his work and also he is suffering from serious disease. The NIA asserted that Bagaicha is linked with Vistapan Virodhi Jan Vikas Andolan .

Asking for bail, the priest urged that criminal jurisprudence has time and again reiterated that bail is the rule. Only lately the Bombay High Court permitted temporary bail for six months to the co-accused, Varavara Rao, on the grounds that his continued incarceration was incompatible with his health. But the NIA in their reply said that the bail application was not maintainable and there was sufficient material to establish a prima facie case against the priest.
