Maharashtra Govt. orders judicial inquiry in Anil Deshmukh case

Maharashtra govt. has ordered a judicial inquiry into the allegation regularised by the former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh against the state Home Minister Anil Deshmukh. This inquiry will be conducted by a high-level committee of a single member of the retired Bombay HC judge, justice Kailas Uttamchand Chandiwal. The Government resolution framed the questions that – whether the allegations in the letter addressed by Singh to CM establish any evidence towards any misconduct or offense by either Deshmukh or official staff and whether allegations in the letter were transferred based on the information received from the DGP and Asst. Police inspectors require a probe by ACB or any other agency. Further, the resolution stated that this inquiry is to be completed and a report is to be submitted within 6 months, also a petition was filed in the Bombay HC, seeking out a judicial inquiry into allegations against Deshmukh. Other petitions pending before the Bombay HC including a petition by Param Bir Singh seeking the inquiry by CBI.
