This ordinance will take effect from 1st April, 2020. This step was taken to recover from the economic backdrop the coronavirus has thrown us in. The salaries and allowances of Prime Minister and Union Ministers will also be reduced by 30%; the ordinance announced will be effect to the amendment of The Salary, Allowances, and Pension of Member of Parliament Act, 1954. President Ram Nath Kovind, Vide-President Venkaiah Naidu and Governors of States have voluntarily to take a pay cut as a part of social responsibility. The Cabinet has also decided to cancel providing funds for the Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme for a period of two years.
