In protest of an armed man attacking Senior Advocate Surinder Kaur outside her home, the Hon’ble Jammu and Kashmir (J & K) High Court Bar Association has decided to close all courts in Jammu and the Central Administrative Tribunal today.
For violations under Sections 307 (attempt to kill), 341 (wrongful restraint), and 323 (voluntarily causing harm) of the Indian Penal Code, as well as applicable provisions of the Arms Act, an inquiry was launched by filing a first information report (FIR).
According to the notice, a motorbike rider armed with a weapon attacked senior lawyer Ms. Surinder Kaur outside her home today at about 9 p.m., according to members of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association in Jammu. She is currently admitted to the emergency room.
While denouncing the occurrence, the Association demanded that the Chief Justice of the Hon’ble Jammu and Kashmir High Court direct the authorities to form a Special Investigating Team (SIT) to investigate the incident and apprehend the perpetrators as soon as possible.
On August 20th 2021, the Bar Association resolved to close all courts and the Central Administrative Tribunal, according to the statement.
According to sources, the advocate was attacked with a sharp weapon by two unknown intruders while walking her dog outside her home.
A four-person Special Investigation Team has also been formed to look into the incident.
