KK Venugopal the Attorney General of India said that the CJI should have a minimum of 3 years of tenure, to ensure that the longstanding reforms can be made. He was giving a farewell message on the last working day, to the outgoing CJI SA Bobde. He expressed that it’s a sad occasion, he felt that the tenure of CJI should be of a minimum of 3 years to ensure the longstanding reforms are made, he said that before the CJI SA Bobde along with CJI Designate NV Ramana. In continuation, the AG said that how in March 2020 where the world was suffering from COVID-19, every country in the world was shaken.
The Supreme Court took the decision to take a call and the Bar thought that the court would close down but the CJI Bobde rose that occasion and initiated the virtual hearings, with around 50,000 cases being disposed off. There was a great achievement. Further, the AG said that how the CJI stepped in when the lawyers approached the Courts for financial aid and realizing that the client and lawyers are not able to meet. He then concluded his thoughts after saying that, ‘we should all applaud the CJI for the work he has done.’
