Media shouldn't report judges’ oral comments: EC moves Madras HC

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has moved to the Madras High Court asking for directions to be passed to media houses to enclose their reports to observations recorded in orders and to abstain from reporting on oral observations occurred during the court proceedings. The appeal has been filed on account of wide information of the oral observations that happened on April 26 at Madras High Court that the ECI is remarkably in charge for the COVID 19 condition in India Today and that it should in all likelihood be put on murder charges for failing to make sure conformity of COVID 19 protocol during election rallies.

The assertion filed by Satyabrata Sahoo, the Chief Electoral Officer at Tamil Nadu has underlined that the said oral observations were not conclusively recorded in the order passed that day. The appeal further stated that the reports have discolored the image of ECI as an independent constitutional agency that is invested with the constitutional responsibility of conducting elections.
