Bombay HC granted bail to former BARC CEO Partho Dasgupta scam case

On Tuesday,  Bombay HC granted bail to former Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) CEO Partho Dasgupta in the case of alleged manipulation of Target Rating Points by the Mumbai Police.

He was prosecuted by the Crime Branch under sections 409 (criminal breach of trust of a public servant), 420 (fraud of Indian Penal Code).

 Dasgupta is accused of manipulating TRP ratings in association with Republic TV officials. He approached the High Court after the sessions court rejected Partho Dasgupta’s bail application.

On 24 December 2020, Dasgupta was arrested, 2020 and is currently placed in Taloja Jail. He was the CEO of BARC from June 2013 to November 2019 and is accused of taking US $ 12,000 and Rs. Along with this, Dasgupta is accused of taking 40 lakh cash from Republic TV editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami for manipulating the TRP for his channel. Last month, he approached the High Court after his bail application was rejected by a sessions court. The High Court reserved the order on 16 February.
